Grinding/Pulverizing:
At our Lufkin plant we have micropulverizer and hammer mills mated to air classification and or mechanical screeners to grind and size. The grinding systems are capable of producing a wide variety of particle sizes-from tenths of an inch to microns. For over fifty years the plant has ground many different materials such as resins, polymers, plastics, fibers, nut hulls, minerals, clays and chemicals. Since each material grinds differently, new customers can send 100-1000lbs of test material and depending on circumstances, test grinds are made at no or minimal charge. Customer representatives are welcome to witness these test grinds and to lend their expertise. Close attention is given to particle size and yields through the use of in-process lab tests and material balance checks. Utmost care is given to avoid contamination when switching products. The air classified micropulverizers are capable of producing micron size products with narrow particle size distributions. The hammer mills are used for grinding materials to meet larger size requirements. The hammer mills are capable of being fitted with a variety of screen sizes to obtain the proper grind. Several of the mills are fitted with electrically heated flash dryers to remove small amounts of moisture. In the Houston plant delumping/coarse grinding is available and is particularly suited for reclamation of hardened or lumpy products.

SIZING/SCREENING: The Lufkin plant can separate particles based on size using either mechanical Rotex screeners or air classification. Mechanical screening is normally employed in the one inch to 60 mesh size range; smaller particle size separation is done with air classification down to 75 microns. Screening and classification can be done prior to, after, or completely apart from grinding. On the triple deck screeners, one pass can separate out four fractions of particles which can then be recombined in any proportion to give the desired particle size distribution in the final product. Our Houston plant has a 48" screen for small screening jobs. Various mesh size screens are available for use on the Sweco.

BLENDING: At our Houston plant, we have four large ribbon blenders and one small ribbon blender capable of blending dry powders. Separate blending systems are utilized to prevent contamination among white, gray and black products. Incoming raw materials can be in paper bags, boxes, or bulk bags. All materials going into the blenders are weighed on digital scales to ensure accuracy of formulation. Batch sizes can range from 100 to 6000lbs/blender. Blending times are dictated by customer quality control requirements and in-process lab checks of blend homogeneity can be done. Blended products are conveyed to holding silos prior to packaging. Capability to spray liquids onto powders is available as blenders are fitted with a manifold and spray nozzle system. Blenders are swept and vacuumed cleaned when switching products. Blended products can be packaged into valve bags, pails, cans, drums, or bulk bags. Each lot is sampled, marked with customer lot numbers, and samples are either retained or sent to customers or both as requested. Customers are encouraged to furnish materials for test blending prior to formal production. Either no or minimal charges are incurred for test blends.
The Lufkin plant has two large blenders and are used in the same manner as those in Houston, except grinding and screening can be done prior to or after blending.

BAGGING: At both Houston and Lufkin plants, capabilities exist to package products in numerous types of containers. Valve type paper or plastic bags from 25 to 100 pound are common. Open mouth bagging into sewn bags can be done if desired. Pails, drums, fiberpacks, and bulk bags are routinely packaged at both locations. All packaged goods are check weighed to ensure accuracy. Both plants stock a variety of bags and bulk bags, and other containers can be sourced and stocked. Customers are also welcome to furnish any or all packaging materials.

PACKAGING: Finished goods can be palletized on wood, plastic or disposable pallets or slip sheets. Palletized goods can be shrink wrapped, stretch wrapped, banded with steel or plastic bands, capped with plywood or cardboard caps and marked for domestic or export destinations. Cardboard trays and complete cardboard jackets are available. Warning or instructional labels can be applied to palletized loads and labels can be sourced through our plants if desired.

RECLAMATION/REWORK: Reclamation of lumpy, hardened, or products in damaged containers can be salvaged at both plants. Delumping, grinding, screening of contaminants, and blending processes are available to recondition goods. Anti-caking agents can be added if necessary to prevent further hardening.

PELLETIZING: The Reliable Equipment plant has three pelletizing mills capable of producing pellets from 0.125 to 0.75 inch diameter. Many materials can be formed into pellets to increase their density, eliminate dust, and aid in reducing the time to add products to liquid formulations. Special wetting and binding agents can be formulated to aid in the dispersion of pellets going into either water or oil based systems. Hard or soft pellets can be produced depending on application.
Test runs are always necessary, in both our lab and full size pelletizers, to determine palletizing parameters, formulations, and cost. Test runs, depending on circumstances, are done at no or minimal charge.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: With over fifty years of processing and product applications experience, our plant, sales and laboratory staff can assist you in developing your new products. We can also assist in securing raw materials as we have a vast network of chemical suppliers and industry contacts. Our Payzone Laboratory , while specializing in oil-field chemicals testing, is able to conduct many standard tests, plus depending upon circumstances, will secure equipment to suit your testing requirements.

EQUIPMENT FABRICATION: The Reliable Equipment plant in Lufkin is capable of fabricating all types of material handling equipment and repair of same. Unitized blending/packaging systems have been built for both domestic and international customers. Dust collectors utilizing air-pulse cleaned socks have been built from small portable models to collectors handling 28,000CFM and employing over 500 fabric socks. Screw conveyors, belt conveyors, bucket elevators are routinely produced to customer specifications. Fabrication of complete grinding systems, including motor control centers and all associated wiring and controls are part of Reliable's portfolio. Custom fabrication using welding, shearing, bending, rolling of steel allows for a one-stop construction shop. Repair and rebuilding work such hard-surfacing, bearing replacement, shaft re-tooling, blower and fan overhaul round out the capabilities of Reliable Equipment.
